Dan Gilyeat's 12 Guiding Principles...

  1. God, Country, Family and Friends
  2. Dan Gilyeat believes lawmakers should follow the principles of the U. S. Constitution in the legislative process.
  3. JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, let the Free Markets work. Lower taxes on business and individuals. Dan believes in American Exceptionalism.
  4. Dan has demonstrated his commitment to America's National Security. He has as a United States Marine for twelve years and now is a Medically Retired Veteran. He served two tours of duty in Iraq where he lost a leg from a roadside bomb. He has been awarded the Purple Heart and the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V (Valor). He has seen firsthand the effects of a weak national security policy and will work as your U. S. Congressman to keep America strong and safe. He will also work to increase support for America’s military and its Veterans.
  5. Dan is dedicated to protecting every lawful American's 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms. Dan is a member of the National Rifle Association.
  6. Dan is Pro-Life and believes all Life is a Gift that should be protected. Respect for life should apply at both ends of life’s spectrum from conception to natural death. He opposes using Americans’ tax dollars to fund abortions or embryonic stem cell research. All American Citizens have the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and those rights must be protected.
  7. Dan believes in securing all of America's borders through manpower, technology, and comprehensive inspections. He believes illegal immigration should be stopped as it is a drain on the national economy and a threat to national security. Dan believes we must finish the Border Fence.
  8. Dan believes in lowering the tax burden for all Americans. Dan believes all laws that contain expenditures of public money should have an automatic sunset provision that will mandate review of these expenditures on a periodic basis. He supports a complete audit of the Federal Reserve and has endorsed the FairTax.
  9. Dan believes America needs to explore and develop all areas of domestic energy including solar, wind, nuclear, and bio-energy including fossil fuels and agricultural products. Dan strongly opposes  “Cap and Trade” legislation because of its devastating effect on the economy through job loss, increased energy costs for households and industry, higher transportation and higher food costs.
  10. Dan believes it’s time to protect the integrity of the legislative process. He believes we should adopt a single-subject law in the legislative process. This would allow only matters relating to the primary subject of the legislation to be attached to a bill. This will also help stop purchasing legislators’ votes on issues they do not support unless tax dollars are promised to them.
  11. Dan believes it is time to return to the concept our forefathers envisioned for our Country which is “citizen legislators.” All American Voters must be taught to exercise their right to keep or rejects their representation at election time. Dan believes that if Voters don't begin to exercise those rights then Term Limits of twelve years for each body of Congress should be instituted, with the Senate to keep their current six year terms and the House of Representatives would be extended from two, to four years terms, so Congressmen aren’t perpetually running for reelection. Dan strongly opposed raising the debt ceiling!
  12. Dan believes the main goal of Congress should be to downsize the Federal Government. He believes the raiding of the Social Security Trust Fund and Medicare is the same as embezzlement by Congress from the American people. Dan also believes we should get government out of our wallets, out of our doctors’ offices, out of our homes, and off our backs! He supports passing a law that protects all pension plans from being plundered by any government or business entity. Individuals paying into any pension fund or Social Security fund should be guaranteed those funds will be available when they reach retirement age. Responsible fiscal management in the operation of government must be restored.
